ICAR-IIRR Celebrates Farmers’ Day; Highlights Advancements in Rice Production Technologies

: The Hyderabad-based ICAR—Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR) observed Farmers’ Day on November 7, 2025, at its Rajendranagar campus. The programme witnessed the participation of around 400 farmers from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, and Karnataka.

As part of the event, a field visit was organized to demonstrate improved rice production technologies and advanced crop management practices. Farmers showed keen interest in the cultivation of IIRR-released rice varieties such as DRR Dhan 48, 60 and 79, and expressed appreciation for DRR Dhan 87, a promising high-yielding variety that is expected to be released soon. An exhibition showcasing various lIRR-developed technologies was also arranged for participants.
