'Bharosa' (trust), an initiative of Jammu and Kashmir police is turning out to be a boon for the women folk in three districts of Doda-Kishtwar Range of the Union Territory.
-
Doda-Kishtwar Range includes mountainous Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Bharosa is a significant step towards strengthening women’s safety and empowerment.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a series of integrated initiatives under ‘Bharosa’ programme aimed at addressing gender-based concerns and enhancing public trust in law enforcement mechanisms.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Doda-Kishtwar Range, Shridhar Patil told UNI, “initiative ‘Bharosa’ has been conceptualized in response to widespread gaps in awareness regarding women's rights, legal protections, and available police servicesespecially in rural and semi-urban areas.”
DIG Patil stated that specially trained female officers are posted at every police station under ‘Bharosa’ programme to provide support and counselling, especially to the victims of harassment and adolescents facing mental health challenges.
“The Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban area is very remote and women hardly come forward with their complaints but to address their grievances at doorstep and for swift action, ‘Bharosa’ initiative was launched to build a trust and confidence among women folk in the police,” the top cop said.
