Nabi praises rivals while aiming for improvement

NASREDDINE Nabi showed good sportsmanship at the Betway Premiership launch as the Kaizer Chiefs coach congratulated colleagues who shone last season.

- MIHLALI BALEKA.

Nabi endured an underwhelming first campaign at Chiefs. He won the Nedbank Cup, but missed out on the Carling Knockout and finished ninth on the log.

By his standards, he should have done better, especially following successful and impressive spells in Tanzania and Morocco. However, Nabi was still gracious in disappointment as he congratulated all his counterparts who impressed and achieved targets during the first edition of the Betway Premiership.

“I would like to congratulate everyone that’s involved in the league, especially my fellow colleagues who did an incredible job last season,” Nabi said.

“Now, we can see on the continent that the league is really appreciated and well run (by all stakeholders).”

Chiefs’ rivals Mamelodi Sundowns were not only the PSL flag bearers on the continent, but on the global stage as well last season.

Fresh from winning a record-extending eighth title, they reached the CAF Champions League final, and impressed at the FIFA Club World Cup in the US.
