IN EXACTLY a month's time, the country will commemorate Youth Day on June 16, a day used to reflect on the strides made to advance the development of young people.

In fact, for the whole of June, issues affecting young people will be the subject of almost every politician's speech.
They will remind us of the bravery of the youth of 1976 and how today’s young people should draw inspiration from that group who stood up and fought against an unjust system.
They will conveniently ignore the role they and their parties have played in betraying the aspirations of those young people by their continued lip service to most issues confronting the youth today.
