Tributes pour in for former ambassador Sonn

MESSAGES of condolence continue to pour in following the death of Dr Franklin Sonn, South Africa's first Ambassador to the United States in the democratic era, and a revered educator and business leader.
Sonn, who was born in Vosburg in the Karoo and raised in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, died on Saturday at the age of 86.
The University of the Western Cape (UWC), where Sonn studied, paid tribute to an alumnus whose legacy continues to inspire.
“UWC honours Franklin Sonn not only as an alumnus but as a symbol of principled leadership and visionary service,” said Professor Robert Balfour, Rector and Vice-Chancellor.
