Stepfather gets life sentence for two decades of abuse

A STEPFATHER has been sentenced to life imprisonment including 40 years for the rape of his stepdaughter whom he sexually violated for nearly 20 years and claimed they were in a consensual relationship - even convincing his family of it.
The Mitchell’s Plain Regional Court was presented with overwhelming evidence - the testimony of the victim, who is now 24 years old, together with physical evidence such as tears and scars — which sealed the man’s fate.
The accused, who took the witness stand, claimed that his stepdaughter became his sexual partner from the age of 19 in a consensual relationship, which he convinced his family of.
The man, who may not be identified, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of his stepdaughter whom he sexually assaulted since the age of seven, and later began raping her.
