Nmecha's late penalty lifts Leeds United

LUKAS Nmecha described his winning strike as the perfect way to start life at Leeds United after his controversial late penalty sealed a 1-0 victory over Everton on their Premier League return.

The match had looked destined for a stalemate until James Tarkowski was harshly adjudged to have handled Anton Stach’s shot. Nmecha, introduced for his debut with just six minutes remaining, calmly slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford in the 84th minute. "For a newly-promoted side it (Elland Road) has to become a fortress," Leeds manager Daniel Farke said. after the match.
"It's great to see the joy and the pride in their eyes. It's great to give the supporters, who are so emotional and care so much about their club, something to cheer."
Nmecha reflected on the moment, adding: "To score on my debut and help the team to three points, it’s the best possible feeling.
