Convicted sex offender remains mayor of Kannaland

TWO years after being expelled from his political party - a move that many believed should have ended his career - victed sex offender Jeffrey Donson is still the mayor of Kannaland.
Donson, who was convicted in 2008 of statutory rape and indecent assault of a 15-year-old girl, is still serving as executive mayor of the Little Karoo municipality.
As leader of the Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (Icosa), Donson returned to power after the 2021 local government elections, reclaiming the mayoral chain for the first time since stepping down after his conviction.
