'Hard work' of team that led to fish and chip shop recognition

The Bar Hill location of Churchill's Fish and Chips features in a list of the top 50 best fish and chip shops in the UK by Fry Magazine.

The Churchill's brand was first started in 1923 when the current CEO James Lipscombe's great-grandfather opened a fish and chip shop in Romford.

“Since then, my family have had a love affair with fish and chips,” Mr Lipscombe said.

“We've now got 35 shops across the south of the UK. We're now a fourth generation family business.”

Mr Lipscombe said the recognition for the Bar Hill shop is “ultimately down to the hard work of the management team” and the “great quality fish and chips” they serve to customers.

The brand has been working with the same fishermen in Iceland for more than 35 years and know “exactly where their fish comes from”.

Mr Lipscombe said: “We go to Iceland twice a year and we meet the crews.

“We've got a great relationship with the teams that go out to catch the fish. It's something we're passionate about.
