Musk firm’s 2025 sales down 8.6% in 2nd straight fall
Tesla lost its crown as the world’s bestselling electric vehicle (EV) maker on Friday as a customer revolt over Elon Musk’s right-wing politics and stiff overseas competition pushed sales down for a second year in a row.
Tesla Inc vehicle sales fell 8.6 per cent last year. Fourth-quarter deliveries declined 16 per cent to 418,227 vehicles, Tesla said in a statement Friday, trailing analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg and the company.
BYD, by contrast, increased battery-electric vehicle sales both for the quarter and the full year, delivering almost 2.26 million EVs to Tesla’s 1.64 million.
