Subway progress

It is unfortunate that our commuters in the capital region cannot see the physical progress for the P488.5-billion Metro Manila Subway Project.

- Mark Villar

Much of the construction work in the subway project is underground, except for the 17 rail stations that will be partly visible on the ground when the rail network is completed.

But the construction of the subway project, billed as the Philippines' “Crown Jewel” of mass transit system, is progressing and our Filipino commuters will be the first to experience the ride when all the work is done.

The government estimates its completion and full operation by 2032, or possibly by the last quarter of 2031, for the entire stretch of the project from Valenzuela all the way to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Transportation recently broke ground for two underground stations of the Metro Manila Subway Project in Taguig City.

The underground stations are the Kalayaan Avenue Station, located beneath 11th Avenue and Uptown Open Parking, and the BGC Station along McKinley Parkway in between Serendra and Market! Market!

From these stations alone, one can see the future convenience for thousands of commuters and employees working in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City.
