PLANS IN PLACE FOR A £23M REGENERATION PROGRAMME
A LEADING councillor has said a funding plan of £23 million will help put Burton 'back on the map'.
Paul Walker, cabinet member for tourism and cultural development at East Staffordshire Borough Council, is leading the regeneration programme, which includes the redevelopment of the former Bass Brewery Site on High Street.
Plans, which have been submitted for approval, outline the refurbishment of Bass House into an immersive brewing heritage and social history experience, which incorporates the National Brewery Heritage Archive.
Funded through the government's Towns Fund, it forms part of wider plans which aim to open up the river to the town and enhance the whole of the High Street area.
