SUBSTATION JOURNEY TO CAUSE DISRUPTION IN THE EARLY HOURS

- By JOSEPH RICHARDS

Warning to drivers over abnormal load delivery

AN abnormal load delivery to the Willington East substation could cause disruption on the roads in the early hours of tomorrow.

National Grid is advising residents and road users as a major piece of electrical equipment is transported to the South Derbyshire site by police escort. It is hoped the delivery will be completed by 7am.

A shunt reactor - a key component for managing voltage on the electricity transmission network - will be transported on an 83-mile journey from the Port of Goole to Willington East substation (DE65 6YA) via the motorway network and local roads.

Road users are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly along the A50 and A5132 during the early morning of Sunday.
