BURTON ALBION COAST TO BIG FA CUP WIN AND AVOID UPSET AGAINST STEP 3 SIDE
Celebrations after Charlie Webster scored the third
PROLIFIC Burton Albion ensured there would be no FA Cup upset at their expense with a scintillating six-goal win over lower ranked St Albans City.
Braces from Tyrese Shade, Charlie Webster and Fabio Tavares were more than enough to see off the Step 3 side and ensure a smooth passage into the next round, for which the draw will be televised live on TNT Sport during the Tamworth vs Leyton Orient telecast this evening.
Albion capitalised to score extremely early in both halves and temper the chances for the hosts, but the game was not without its drama with St Albans hitting the woodwork at 1-0, and they were indebted to Kamil Dudek in goal at times, but there was no doubting who the better team and most deserving winner was on the day.
The St Alban players singing 'Burton away ole ole' in special scenes after their qualification went viral, but the reality of the task in hand soon dawned upon them as the Brewers exerted their dominance and showed the levels between them.
To their credit, though, they never stopped and neither did their fans on a day out they will never forget and one which did them and their club proud.
The visitors' team talk would have been along the lines of keeping it tight, doing nothing silly, silencing the crowd and working their way into the game the longer it went on, and yet within a mere matter of seconds it all went out of the window in the worst way possible.
