Second-half cruise for Moatmen to start pre-season
Burton Mail
|July 07, 2025
DYLAN Hunniford scored twice as Gresley Rovers launched their preseason with a 4-0 win away to Stapenhill on Saturday.
-
Ald there was even a cup to go with it as the team's played for the first time in tribute to well-respect late Swans supporter Clive Evans.
Gate receipts from a decent crowd of 336 are going to charity.
The Moatmen were held goalless for the first half but tweaked a few things at halftime and ran out comfortable winners.
The game began with the visitors pressing forward and Stapenhill defending well.
Rovers’ new signing Will Mansfield went close with a shot saved by Paul Hollis.
Sam Moore also shot wide and Rovers went close near halftime when Phil Kowalski’s on-target header was deflected wide.
Both sides made changes at the break and Gresley's made the bigger difference as they took control of the game.
