NUMBER OF TREES AT NATIONAL FOREST SET TO PASS 10 MILLION MARK
National Forest rangers planting a tree
THE National Forest will celebrate a milestone in March when the total number of trees planted will surpass 10 million.
Ahead of the spring landmark, the public is invited to take part in its annual Plant a Tree event one of the most significant long term environmental programmes in England.
It will take place on Saturday, February 21, at Brookvale Wood, Groby, from 10.30am to 1.30pm, where participants will be guided by the National Forest team to plant native trees that will grow into the next generation of woodland.
These trees will provide vital habitats for wildlife, help capture carbon, improve soil and water quality, and create greener, healthier places for people to enjoy.
