After the disappointing defeat to Doncaster in midweek, Gary Bowyer and his men knew this was a great opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Most fans were regarding this clash as a must win with Vale adrift at the bottom of the table but no side in this league is an easy pushover and so it proved.

The Brewers succumbed to another sloppy start as they fell behind just six minutes in and then once again shortly after equalising but they can always rely on Jake Beesley to pull them through.

There were, unsurprisingly, several changes from the Doncaster loss four days prior having nearly turned the game around with a triple substitution at half time.

Three of those, Terence Vancooten, Tyrese Shade and Sebastian Revan, started while Sulyman Krubally also came in.
