GP INVITES PATIENTS TO ATTEND TO RECEIVE LUNG CANCER SCAN

MORE people from East Staffordshire will benefit from early detection of lung cancer with the return of a high-tech mobile CT scanner to Burton.
Staffordshire Lung Screening Programme, delivered by University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) in partnership with TIC Imaging, part of the TIC Health Group, has returned to Coopers Square in the town centre to scan people invited to attend by their GP.
More than 4,000 patients from six practices were invited for lung health checks earlier this year. Of the 4,308 people, 2,487 completed initial screening, and 1,163 attended their Low-Dose CT scan (LDCT) appointment.
The mobile unit will return again to Burton at future dates to accommodate patients from additional GP practices.
