SIX DERBYSHIRE BUSINESSES ON LIST OF ALMOST 500 WHO FAILED TO PAY MINIMUM WAGE
SIX Derbyshire businesses have been fined after they failed to pay their employees the minimum wage.
This comes as the Government published a list of almost 500 employers who underpaid their staff.
Across the UK, around 42,000 workers have been repaid by their employers, with them receiving fines totalling £10.2 million for breaking the rules.
Employers can be fined up to 200 per cent of what they underpaid by, with the fine being determined by HMBC on a case-to-case basis.
Underpayments took place as far back as 2013, with investigations for these cases concluding between 2018 and 2023.
Business Secretary Peter Kyle, right, said: “Every worker deserves a fair day’s pay for a fair day's work, and this government will not tolerate rogue employers who shortchange their staff.
