AND IT ISN'T JUST SPEEDING THAT THE NEW STYLE CAMERAS WILL BE ABLE TO DETECT

Drivers facing Al cameras crackdown

NEW AI-powered cameras being introduced this summer can catch motorists out for more than just speeding, drivers have been warned.

Car repair finance expert Bumper said drivers are risking fines and points on their licence from the new smart devices, which 'detect drivers using mobile phones or not wearing seatbelts.

Staffordshire Police are taking part in the National Highways trial, along with Greater Manchester Police, Durham, Humberside, West Mercia, Northamptonshire, Wiltshire, Norfolk, Thames Valley Police, Sussex and Warwickshire.

Bumper said these new cameras could have financial implications for drivers struggling with rising motoring costs. A spokesperson added: "The system uses a multi-camera setup to capture different views of the driver and passengers, with artificial intelligence analysing the footage to detect speed-related offences. However, any violations flagged by AI must still be reviewed and verified by police officers before fines are issued.
