A BANNED driver led police on a chase, striking multiple trees and losing wheels in the process, before he was finally arrested.

Mitchell Bird came to the attention of Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team after its officers saw a BMW being driven by a potential disqualified driver by their in-car ANPR system.

Officers reported that, after they stopped the vehicle near the A444 and instructed Bird to leave the car, he reversed out at speed onto the main road, leading officers to begin a pursuit.
