FORTY Burton AC members travelled to Stoke for the Staffordshire County Championships, returning a string of wins and personal bests.

Two early PBs came in the girls’ under-13 1500m for Zola Signori and Oliver James in the boys’ under-15 800m (2.12.8), with both coming third.

Sammy McCafferty delivered the first Burton win, leading all the way in the under-17 men's 800m in 2.01.1.

Blayn Ganley won the under-20 men's 100m in 11.7, while Freya Manton grabbed second in the final of the under-17 girls’ 100m.

Will Kelsall just missed third in the under-17 men’s 1500m but landed a PB of 4.39.1.

Behind him, it was also a PB for Aleksander Tutt (4.45.0).

In the under-15 boys’ 300m Sam Roberts destroyed the field with 37.1, the third-fastest in the UK this season.

Amelia Kolodziej was second in the under-13 long jump with 4.07m and George Kugelmann won the under-20 discus with 36.04m, while Laura Allen won the senior women's discus with 19.29m.

The long jump saw an under-13 boys’ win for Riccardo Ferrero with 4.01m and second for Amelia Shilton in the under-15 girls with 4.89, before Daniel Kolodziej delivered an under-17 men's win with 5.99m.

The senior women’s hammer brought a second for Rachel Burke with 31.21m

There were three wins in the javelin, for Isla Rogers (under-17, 34.63M) Elizabeth Jenkinson (under-20, 26.49m) and Oliver Scattergood (under-17, 40.00m).

THIRTY Burton athletes head for the combined Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire championships at Berry Hill, Mansfield, held over two days.
