Teenagers on the swings discombobulated my young charge. She views teenagers as enormous and slightly scary things. Must admit, I quite agree with her.
-
WENT to the park earlier this evening, with one of the grandkids. Took the dog as well. The original idea was for us to walk the dog and hopefully get my granddaughter a little bit tired out, ready for supper and bed when we got home. But actually what happened was even better. Warmed the cockles of my heart, reminded me how lovely it is to meet new people as we travel through this thing called life.
This granddaughter is at the age where going to the park is all about the play park, she doesn’t have much time for walking around, staring at birds and butterflies these days. So, naturally, within minutes of us arriving at the park, she was inside the play park and I was hovering outside with the dog.
At this point, I should probably mention that this particular grandchild has a particular favourite piece of play equipment. The swings. So she immediately made a beeline for the swing section of the play park. Which is when things became slightly unstuck. The swings were being used. By what looked like a pair of teenaged girls. Which is fair enough. It's always nice to see teenagers doing normal nice things and that is exactly what they were doing. Swinging and chatting and having a most pleasant time.
