Police apologise for delays in evacuation support
Bristol Post
|August 21, 2025
POLICE have apologised for a delay in informing Bristol City Council's emergency response team that around 200 Ashton Vale residents needed to be evacuated.
-
As the Post reported yesterday, council bosses apologised to residents for the slow response to the situation on July 22, when suspected explosive substances were found in a property in South Liberty Lane, and promised lessons would be learned.
It meant residents were left without official support for three hours.
Now bosses at Avon and Somerset Police have apologised too, saying the initial Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assessment was that only a few homes would need to be evacuated.
