Bristol Water Taps run dry near site of Clifton sinkhole

RESIDENTS of Canynge Square in Clifton were left without running water for two days due to a leaking pipe.

- Angus MCINTYRE

The incident started last Tuesday evening when Bristol Water workers removed concrete from around the pipe, releasing a preexisting leak which they had no way of detecting before the work started.

Locals were without water in their homes from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening.

"During routine work on Canynge Square in Clifton, our teams discovered that one of our pipes had been covered in concrete by a third party, which had to be removed," a Bristol Water spokesperson said.

"Following that work, a leak was found which we were able to isolate as quickly as we could.

"We restored supplies to all customers and continue to work hard to make sure this is fixed for the future - we're sorry for any disruption this has caused for customers."
