'Exciting milestone' over homes and care home plan

PLANS to build 142 new homes and a large care home have been approved despite one councillor calling the area a "hellish location" to live in.

Work on the first of 142 new homes, part of developer Countryside Homes’ plan for land north of Shenfield, is to begin by this winter and is anticipated to be completed in autumn 2026.
Of the 142 homes, 50 will be affordable and 92 will be for private sale.
Brentwood Borough Council approved the plans despite concerns that the development is sandwiched between three busy roads: the A12, Mountnessing roundabout and Shenfield Road.
