YUWM calls for real change after Premier's SOPA
Bosveld Review
|March 12, 2026
The Young Urban Women Movement (YUWM) has reflected on the Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba's 2026 State of the Province Address, highlighting gaps in addressing issues affecting young people, women and communities, says Baba Selomo.
Selomo noted that while the premier stressed a drop in unemployment, many of the new jobs are temporary, low-paid or insecure, leaving youth underemployed and excluded from meaningful economic participation.
She added that investment and partnerships with mining houses were praised, but the realities faced by local communities were largely overlooked.
