Fridays are my favourite day of the week - not just because it's the end of the working week, but because it's when I spend time in the community, visiting inspiring local people and projects.
Recently, I stood in the middle of what used to be Mereside library. Once a place for quiet reading, it was now buzzing with energy.
College students were mixing plaster, painting walls and working on electrics. They're transforming the space into a two-bedroom council flat - and doing an excellent job.
One of those students was Summer (pictured right), 19-years-old and studying painting and decorating at Blackpool & The Fylde College.
