NHS healthcare staff strike over pay is called off

Hundreds of healthcare workers employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have suspended a walkout planned for next week.

A 73-hour strike in a row over unpaid wages was due to begin at Blackpool Victoria, Clifton and Fleetwood hospitals ay 7am on Monday.
The workers, members of the Unison union, had been carrying out tasks-such as taking blood, performing electrocardiogram tests and inserting cannulas - which the union claimed should have been paid at a higher hourly rate.
