Bruce's departure wasn't a huge surprise following a shaky start to the season

It was disappointing, but completely understandable, to hear the boos and whistles ringing around Bloomfield Road last Saturday after another puzzlingly poor performance - and a seventh defeat in just 11 league games - by the Seasiders.

As I noted last month, no one inside or outside the club expected this campaign to get off to such a very shaky start, given the quality of the players, but something has gone seriously wrong and changes were inevitable.

We have looked less fit, less tactically astute, less well-drilled and less hungry than most of the teams we have played, even in the two games we managed to win.
