Ex-council leader ‘ineligible’ to stand in Tory vote

A FORMER leader of Walsall Council who had hoped to stand as Conservative group leader in a recent vote was reportedly deemed ineligible.

Cllr Mike Bird’s bid to return as leader was revealed by a tip-off.
Cllr Bird, later confirmed his plans to stand for the role of Conservative group leader, and therefore the Tory-led council, ahead of the vote on Friday May 2.
