ASTON Villa captain John McGinn can look forward to representing his country at the World Cup next summer after helping Scotland secure automatic qualification on Tuesday night.

- By JOHN TOWNLEY

The Tartan Army defeated Denmark 4-2 at Hampden Park, with Kieran Tierney putting the hosts ahead for a third time in second-half stoppage time, before Kenny McLean added a fourth.

McGinn will be a key player for Steve Clarke at next summer's tournament, having missed just two of his nation’s last 49 internationals.

The draw for the World Cup will take place in Washington on Friday, December 5.

Until then, McGinn will no doubt quickly refocus on his club duties, with Villa set to play four games over the next fortnight before hosting league leaders Arsenal on December 6.

McGinn’s celebrations were briefly delayed as he underwent a drug test immediately after Scotland’s World Cup qualification.

The midfielder posted a selfie, staring straight at the camera, with the caption: “Drugs test, not allowed in the changing room, can’t write it”
