TRIBUTES have been pouring in for famed ITV Crossroads actor Tony Adams, who died at the age of 84.
Born Anthony Sawley Adams in Anglesey, Wales, in 1940, he honed his acting skills at the renowned Italia Conti theatre school.
After making a name for himself on stage, he became known to television audiences as Dr Neville Bywaters in the 1970s soap General Hospital and also featured in the Dr Who series The Green Death.
In 1978, he took on the role of accountant Adam Chance in the Birmingham-made soap Crossroads, a part that would become his most recognised.
