'Tech-lover' woman loses 6-figure sum in love scam

A MIDLAND woman was duped out of a six-figure sum by a romance scammer, police revealed.
Staffordshire Police has now issued a warning for people to beware.
The woman victim said that she was 'interested in technology' in her online Facebook profile.
She was then contacted via the social media site by a man claiming to be a celebrity entrepreneur.
Over a two-month period the scammer claimed he planned to come to the UK and said he hoped to settle down with the victim.
He said because of his notoriety, he could not use his own bank accounts to make these plans.
He asked the victim to send him money from her account, which he said he would return.
The man duped the victim into remortgaging her house and then sending him a total of £130,000.
