'Starboy' Morgan is shooting for moon with Villa
Birmingham Mail
|June 26, 2025
AMADOU Onana believes the “sky’s the limit” for Villa team-mate and “starboy” Morgan Rogers following a season in which he truly announced himself on the domestic, European and international stage.
Playmaker Rogers completed his first full campaign in the Premier League, having joined Villa in January 2024 for a bargain £8 million from Middlesbrough.
He remained an integral part of Unai Emery’s starting XI throughout, in all competitions, and by the season’s end had racked up 54 appearances, as well as six caps for England.
Rogers scored 14 goals, including a Champions League hat-trick against Celtic, and provided 15 assists, which has inevitably led to speculation that clubs elsewhere, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, are watching him.
Onana, who joined Villa last summer in a £50m move from Everton, featured in 33 of those matches alongside Rogers and has seen up close the England star’s qualities. After a groundbreaking first full season in the top flight, the Belgian international has tipped him to progress further next season.
