Shooting victim was a bully - murder accused

Police at the scene in Western Road, Birmingham, on April 14 2021

AMAN accused of murder described a shooting victim as a “bully” who tried “picking a problem” with him.

Gavin Parry was shot dead inside a car repair unit on Western Road, Winson Green shortly before 5.30pm on April 13, 2021.

A jury has been told he was hit by two bullets to the head from a Skorpion submachine gun fired by one of 13 men inside the unit at the time.

Remell Bailey, on trial at Birmingham Crown Court for Mr Parry’s murder, rejected being involved in the shooting or removing guns from the scene.

Giving evidence, he said: “It’s a sad thing to happen; I feel sorry for his family. But I had nothing to do with murder. I didn’t kill anybody, didn’t help anybody move any guns.”

Bailey, aged 28, told the court he did not know Mr Parry personally and had no prior involvement with him.

He said: “He had a reputation to be a bully, liking to intimidate people.”

Bailey confirmed the car repair unit was owned by his father who was out of the country, adding that he worked there along with his older brother Theo Bailey and younger brother Demarne Bailey-Brown.

He stated he went there that day to get his SEAT car fixed and that a number of people were there celebrating a 17th birthday.
