PARTS of Birmingham are among England's jobless capitals, with some of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

- RICHARD GUTTRIDGE

In the worst-hit places around one in six people are out of work.

And the jobless rate here is much higher than both the regional and national average.

Perry Barr has the highest unemployment rate in the West Midlands at 15.4%, latest figures showed.

There has been a slight fall in the number of jobless since the summer, but the total is still a massive 12,235.

Ladywood is another nonworking hotspot at 14.3% of residents.
