THERE are a few accounts in particular that have stuck with me.

'No jail sentence will ever compensate for the life lost'

George Philips describing the ‘complete devastation of my family’ when the car he was in was hit by Mohammed Ibrahim's BMW on East Meadway, Shard End, on Boxing Day 2023.

His wife Linda Philips, aged 72, and daughter Amanda Riley, 49, were killed as their MG was consumed in a fireball.

Ibrahim had been racing another car and hitting speeds of 84mph on the 30mph road before he crashed into a quad bike and ricocheted into the Philips’ car which contained four generations of the same family.

l also recall distraught parents Zoe Homer and Jakir Khan telling of how they ran to the Coventry Road, in Yardley, after hearing their son

Mervyn Boreland, who smashed into 13-year-old girl in Erdington

12-year-old Azaan Khan had been struck by a car on June 8, 2023.
