A 'GREEDY' NHS worker who fleeced his uncle with dementia out of almost £6,500 set aside for bills and food has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Dad Christopher Firkin earned more than £3,000 a month working in his managerial role at Russells Hall Hospital but secretly used his uncle's Halifax bank card to treat himself and his family, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Firkin, 37, of Shrewsbury Place, Dudley, admitted fraud.

He was jailed for 10 months, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work, pay £6,458.44 compensation to his victim within three months and £450 costs.

Sentencing, Judge John Edwards told him: "There was no need for any of this. You should be ashamed of yourself."
