Maeve's cancer appeal target reaches halfway

MAEVE Fanning was told “every mother’s worst nightmare” in February - that she had stage four cancer and it was inoperable.

When palliative chemotherapy stopped working and she began getting worse, the Kings Heath mum was given just two years to live.

She and her husband, Paddy, began searching for different ways to fight the rare thymoma cancer and found a private treatment in London - but it costs £11,000 a month.

The Birmingham Mail ran a story about Maeve’s online GoFundMe appeal last week and the couple have been thrilled by people's generosity and kindness.

“It's just been phenomenal the amount of support I've received from my community and the wider public,” said Maeve, who is mum to Oonagh, aged eight, Cormac, four, and Ciaran, one.
