CANCER TOOL CAN HELP SAVE YOUR LIFE, URGES 50-YEAR-OLD SUFFERER
Jo Day has lost many loved ones through cancer and she herself was diagnosed with bowel cancer last month
A WOMAN who lost 15 loved ones to cancer said she'll “never forget” the moment her dad thanked her for reaching her 49th birthday.
Jo Day explained it was because his sister had died of cancer aged 48. But little did the 50-year-old from Bromsgrove know at the time that she, too, had bowel cancer.
“I was lucky because I had symptoms and it was caught early,” she said. “But even knowing what I did about my family, I didn't like the idea of bowel screening.
“Now I tell everyone not to ignore their screening invitation because it's better to be safe than sorry.”
Jo was diagnosed with early-stage bowel cancer after having surgery to remove a polyp in November last year.
She explained: “I'd noticed blood in my poo over a period of two months and assumed I had piles.
