PAY A VISIT TO A NATIONAL TRUST PLACE NEAR YOU THIS HALF TERM
-
GETTING outdoors and enjoying quality family time together is the perfect way to spend the May half term holidays.
In Worcestershire, there’s lots to keep the kids busy at Hanbury Hall with the Nature’s Perfect Pattern trail and symmetry inspired crafts. Musical adventures await at The Firs (birthplace of composer Edward Elgar) with activities prompting children to make their own sounds inspired by the gardens. At Croome, discover nature themed activities, inspiring families to explore the parkland. In Derbyshire, visitors to Calke Abbey can have-a-go on the Bewonderment Machine from 31 May to 1 June, a fantastical, cycle-powered carousel which combines puppetry, machinery and music. Kedleston Hall will be celebrating Derby Book Festival with a series of children’s literary events and the orienteering course is a fun way to explore the parkland.
In Herefordshire, an activity trail around Brockhampton’s orchards explores pollinating insects and the importance of trees and plants in medieval times. At Berrington Hall, children can discover what flowers meant to the Georgians, and over at The Weir Garden there will be an archaeology trail looking at what we can learn from objects from the past.
