He says: “The music scene in Europe has changed a lot as well, a lot of the smaller venues closed, emphasis became more on festivals and things like that, so if you don’t get on the festival tours, sometimes you don’t get to Europe at all.

“So a lot of medium-sized gigs that we might normally be playing have gone away.

“We're really fortunate that we got an offer to do the Palladium, which is historic, I've never played the Palladium, but it is the kind of place that I like to play, the classic music hall-type of venue.”

Todd says the setlist he is performing has an “overall message” which he had initially intended to get people to “have a little bit more appreciation for each other, and the consequences of our decisions”, ahead of the US election last year. He adds that it “obviously didn’t work”.

Todd produced the debut album of glam punks the New York Dolls, whose singer David Johansen died earlier this year.

On working with the band, Todd says: “They modelled themselves kind of after The Rolling Stones.
