FINES COMING AFTER COMPLAINTS

- STAFF REPORTER

LAZY drivers who park in disabled spots without displaying a blue badge could face getting a ticket at a glossy Black Country sports centre.

Traffic wardens will start issuing penalty notices at Sandwell Aquatics Centre, in Smethwick, following complaints about motorists abusing disabled bays.

One user claimed drivers of high performance vehicles had been using the wider zones so their car doors did not get hit.

The £73 million venue hosted the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games swimming and diving events before opening for public use in May 2023.
