Power-sucking tech might be adding to already scary energy bills - often in the dead of night.

A TV left in standby mode for 20 hours a day will cost 2p, or £7.30 a year. A digital TV box uses 0.4p an hour on standby, adding up to 9.6p a day and £35.04 a year.
