Ben's new chapter in fundraising for the hospital

KIND-HEARTED illustrator and his company, which raised more than £13,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity in its recent Dragon Boat Race, have turned a new leaf on their support for the hospital, with a new Christmas-themed children’s book.

Ben Barter, an illustrator and co-founder of Coventry-based animation company, Spirit Bridge Studio, has been supporting Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity since 2021 after a selection of books he illustrated in collaboration with a company called IM1313 were donated to patients.

After that first visit with the company's founder, Pritpal Rai, Ben was inspired and reached out to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, to see how he could get involved and support the hospital and its patients.

Ben signed up to become a charity volunteer, and in 2022, he took his support to the next level by becoming a charity ambassador.

In the three years that followed, Ben volunteered at many of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity's events, including abseils, its annual Dragon Boat Races and even held an art workshop at the hospital for patients. It was this dedication that saw Ben win the Volunteer of the Year title at the charity's 100 Heroes supporter recognition ceremony, this year.
