Aldi eyes new store on site of former working men's club

ALDI is exploring opening a new store in the heart of Weoley Castle.

The German budget chain is considering taking over the Weoley Castle Working Men's Club, off Barnes Hill, and investing £7million in building a supermarket.
The club occupiers were said to be “exploring options in relation to it's future operations.”
If approved, the 1,336 sqm supermarket would sell 2,500 products, create 40 jobs and have 100 customer car parking spaces.
A public consultation has been launched by Aldi ahead of a formal planning application being submitted to the council.
