AT his final pre-match press conference before the end of the transfer window, manager Ryan Mason insisted Albion would have a squad he was happy with when the deadline passed - and he wasn't wrong.

Albion are building a solid case to support Prem push

While the departures of highly-rated academy product Tom Fellows, 2024/25 player of the season Torbjorn Heggem and loyal servant Darnell Furlong will perhaps take the headlines, the Baggies have quietly gone about their business and put together a solid squad.

High earners, such as John Swift, Grady Diangana and Semi Ajayi, have been removed from the books and the fledgling Championship table doesn’t lie with Albion sitting pretty with ten points from 12, albeit very early into a long league season.

Nat Phillips has been an absolute rock at the back so far, alongside fellow new man George Campbell, and deserved all the praise he got for his winning goal and helping to keep a clean sheet against Stoke at the weekend.
