Larkhall are all but safe after draws
Bath Chronicle
|April 24, 2025
Larkhall Athletic's bid for safety needed a 92nd minute equaliser from Max Williams on Good Friday to ensure their destiny remained in their own hands.
-
After a good start from Willand, Larkhall managed to grow into the game but just as the sides looked to be heading into the break level, Willand were awarded a penalty. Douglas Camilo stepped up and, although goalkeeper Dylan John guessed correctly, converted the spot-kick.
Larkhall were desperate to get themselves back in the match and had a few shots denied by the Willand goalkeeper. The game somewhat evened out, however Larkhall came closest to equalising again when a free-kick was stopped by a diving save.
John stood strong to see a Willand attempt go wide from a one-on-one situation, and that proved vital as Larkhall managed to level in added time through Williams from close range.
Willand did have one final chance late on, but Larkhall did enough to secure a share of the spoils.
Larkhall edged even closer to safety on Easter Monday, despite being pegged back twice by Shaftesbury.
Will Merrett gave the visitors the lead, before Shaftesbury instantly responded through Luke Burbidge.
Undeterred, Alex Lambert fired Larkhall back in front seven minutes before half-time and that score would have been enough to secure their safety.
