Vapes laced with anaesthetic on the rise

The Department of Medical Sciences (DMS) has warned the public that e-cigarettes are being increasingly laced with etomidate, a dangerous anaesthetic, posing severe health risks, particularly to the brain and respiratory system.
According to DMS director-general Dr Sarawut Boonsuk, etomidate was found in 56 of 83 e-cigarettes and equipment samples collected from last October to June.
Etomidate is a short-acting anaesthetic agent that is only supposed to be used under the supervision of a doctor, with its effects impacting many vital organs and potentially leading to death.
